Early in October marks the beginning of the National Hockey League season and there is nothing quite like being there to witness the excitement of Canadian hockey fans the in a hockey hot bed like Vancouver. The beloved Canucks of Vancouver play at their beautifully located downtown area called the Rogers Arena. The excitement lasts all season long and really ramps up in May when the playoffs start but there always seems to be little bit of renewed excitement at the start of each season. Tickets are tough to come by in advance but there are always seats available for sale just outside the building at game time.

Changing Colours of Nature

Vancouver is well known for it surrounding wilderness; however, there is something special about seeing it in transition. Hiking through the many trails in the nearby mountains or parks while the leaves are changing and the animals are busy preparing for the colder season always gives one great appreciation for this special time of the year. Stanley Park in Downtown and Pacific Spirit Park are two very large urban parks that give you the impression that you are no long in the middle of a city when you're just a few steps inside. The colours of the changing canopy and on the foliage littered floor is splendor for the visual senses.

Winter vacationers from around the world have made this part of Vancouver Island a growing tourist destination in the most unlikely of times, storm season. Nowhere else will you see Nature's power and beauty together in such a display and viewed fireside in the comfort of a west coast cabin or B&B. The storm watching season starts in November and rolls on through to March. The giant storms of the Pacific Ocean blow in and you can enjoy behind the protection of double pained glass or get right out there to experience the wind and rain first hand. The most popular coastal spots for storm watching have become Tofino and near by Ucuelet.
